Doris Nelson Jennings

Doris Kilgore Jennings, 81, of Jacksonville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 20, 2014. Doris passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived and cherished by her children, Kerry Wayne Kilgore (Jeanette), Kenneth Lamar Kilgore, all of Ohatchee, Wanda Kay Beal of Jacksonville, and Becky Heindl (Steve) of Weaver; her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored, Michael Townsend, Della Gambrell, Brian Gambrell Angie Blessing, Carie Deon Ray, Sherrie Beal Millwood, Master Sgt. Misty Dawn Kilgore, Jason Worthy, Mandee Jones Perricone, Rodney Heindl, Stephen Ryan Heindl; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Hoyt Nelson (Anne); and a very special friend, Newman White.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Nelson and Ida Mae Spears; her husband, Lewis W. Jennings; father of her children, William O. Kilgore; brother, Willis Nelson; daughter, Sharon Gambrell; and grandchildren, Olivia Gail Zielinski and Kenneth Lamar Kilgore Jr.

Doris, better known as "Mama", lived her life loving people and spreading her kindness. She was loved by everyone who met her. Most of all, she loved the Lord and looked forward to rejoicing alongside him. Enjoy your new home, Mama.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to service time.
