"Miss Emmie", as those caring for her affectionally called her, was born on July 10, 1927, to parents Grover C. Teague and Charlcie Bell Teague. She resided in Cleburne County until she graduated from Cleburne County High School in Heflin. The majority of her adult life was spent as a resident of Saks in Calhoun County where she was a faithful member of the Saks Baptist Church whose pastor was Rev. Daniel Harper. Emmie cherished the many special friendships she had there. She also participated in other activities as well. She especially enjoyed travelling with church groups on sightseeing excursions across the US. Those who knew her saw her as one who loved life and spread joy and happiness wherever she went. She was quick to share her faith with others. She has a great memory of the lessons she had absorbed over the years from Rev. Harper's teachings.
Emmie also shared a passion with the special group of friends who were members of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Many of her ancestors fought in the Confederate Army, conflicts in World War 1 and World War 2. Her brother, Orlan, lost his life in battle in World War 2 at age 23. His burial site is at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in Manila, Capital District, National Capital Region, Philippines. Her son, Ray served in the US Army in Vietnam. She was proud of the contributions of her family members to the US Military.
Emmie was grateful for God's blessings in her life!
Those whose path she crossed will miss her greatly but will have peace to know she is free from pain and is in the presence of her Lord. She was much loved and cared for by a family that loved her.
Her family would like to express our love and appreciation for the prayers, visits, cards, food and any other expressions of love shown during this difficult time.
