Gloria Jean Champion, 81, of Anniston, Alabama passed away on November 24, 2025. She was a loving and generous woman who found joy in caring for others. She never hesitated to show up when anyone needed her, and her kindness will be remembered by every life she touched.
Born and raised in Anniston, Jean carried a deep love for the people around her, and without question - Alabama football. Saturdays in the fall were spent cheering on the Crimson Tide. But nothing brought her more happiness than being " Granny Jean." Her family and the children in her life were her greatest pride, and she loved them with all her heart.
Jean's love was perhaps felt most in the way she devoted her son, Wes Champion, who passed away years before her. She cared for him diligently, without hesitation, and loved him dearly. The strength she showed as his mother defined so much of who who she was, and those who knew her know that her heart never stopped loving him, and the pain of losing him never faded.
Jean is survived by her brother, Wayne Carden (Gail); her aunt, Pat Thrasher (Bryan); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Wes Champion; Parents: Aubie & Ina Ree Carden; Sister: Peggy Langley.
Pallbearers will be Paul Langley, Jerry Langley, Wayne Carden Jr., Pete Morrison, Brian Forbus, and Jeff Smith.
A funeral service to honor Jeans life will be Wednesday, November 26th at Chapel Hill Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be at 12:00.
Jean will be remembered for her compassion, strength, and her one of a kind spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
