Funeral services for James Edward Keel, 44, of Heflin will be 1 pm Friday, January 6, 2023 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jason Bachus and Rev. Jimmy Keel officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Baptist Cemetery in Heflin, AL. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 - 8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Keel passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Diversicare of Oxford.
Survivors include his wife Julie Keel, father, Jimmy Keel, brothers, Damon Keel (Cassey) and Matthew Keel, mother-in-law, Glenda Hayes, step-father, Gerald "Binky" Alexander, sister-in-law, Michelle Hayes, grandmother, Patricia Murphy, nieces and nephews, Jeffery Coble, Harley Hayes, Skyler Hayes, Hayden Riley, Keegan Keel, Gage Keel, Trinity Keel and Gema Keel, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Keel is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Alexander, grandparents, Braxton and Martha Price and uncle, Allen Keel.
Pallbearers will be Damon Keel, Matt Keel, David Chandler, Michael Brakeman, Jeffery Coble and Ricky Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Keegan Keel and Harley Hayes.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation 270 Peachtree St #1040, Atlanta, GA 30303.
Mr. Keel was a native of Calhoun County and a resident of Cleburne County for the past eleven years. He was a member of The Church at Pleasant Grove. Mr. Keel loved to grill and he loved and served the Lord. Mr. Keel was a loving husband, son and uncle who will be dearly missed.
