

Funeral Service for Mrs. Joan Carter, 77, of Anniston will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at Leatherwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Owens and Bro. Brae McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 Monday evening at the church.
Mrs. Carter passed away peacefully at home on Friday, surrounded by her loved ones.
Preceded in death by her father and mother A.N. Skinner and Lillar Skinner, brothers Arthur Skinner, Don Skinner and Van Skinner, Infant Daughters Rebecca Ann Carter and Lisa Kay Carter and Great Grand Daughter Alexa Rae Foster
Survived by her Husband of 58 years John W. (Billy) Carter, Son John W. Carter, Jr. (Glenda Faye), Daughter Karen C. Barnett (Bruce), Five Grand Children, Trey Carter, Jeremy Carter (Amber), Tessa C. List (Wesley), Steven Barnett, Rachel Barnett (Andrew Foster), Six Great Grand Children Jaxon Carter, Heidi Carter, Hanna Carter, Karlie Carter, Grayson List, Owen Foster, several Nieces and Nephews and Kara Carter. Sisters Mary Honeycutt Morgan (Jay) and Shela Skinner (Richard Griffey), Brothers Ray Skinner (Mary) and Paul Skinner
She was a very beloved member of Leatherwood Baptist Church and Rebekah/Dorcas SS class. She was a member of the second graduating class of Walter Welborn High School and retired from Anniston Army Depot. She loved her church and serving at the Baptist Service Center from which she received the "SERVANTS HEART AWARD." She loved to travel and she loved her Grand Children and Great Grand Children who all called her "Grandmama"
