Joe W. Hurst

Eastaboga - Funeral services for Mr. Joe W. Hurst, 84 of Eastaboga will be Monday, August 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Loyd Watkins officiating and burial following at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday, with a family viewing at 11 am and friends from 12 – 1 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mr. Hurst passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at St. Vincent’s in Birmingham.

Mr. Hurst is survived by his daughter, Karen J. (Chad) Meharg; sister, Shirley Elizabeth Shurtleff, Betty Louise Holmes and Sandra Gay Hurst; brothers, Louie Casey Hurst and Lowell Dean Hurst

Pallbearers will be James Lawson, Billy Lawson, Scotty Boyd and David Meharg.

Mr. Hurst a native and lifelong resident of Alabama, he was retired from the Anniston Army Depot, served in the U.S. Army and was a devoted Christian and father to his family.

Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Elizabeth Rackley Hurst; daughter, Linda Gayle Hurst and son, Tommy Joe Hurst; sisters, Frances Hurst, Lena Idalia Lawson; brothers, Curtis Jewell Hurst, Herbert Cephas Hurst and Marvin Louis Hurst.
