

Funeral service for Joel Marion “Mickey” Hanvey, 66 of Bynum, will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Wright officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hanvey passed away Wednesday afternoon at his residence.
Mr. Hanvey is survived by his sons, Marvin Edward Hanvey and Stacey David Bennett (Lisa), both of Bynum, AL; sisters, Tody Word (Ron Brewer) of Ohatchee, AL, Mary Lockridge of Atlanta, Ga, Bobby Wood (Bob) of Tallapoosa, Ga; brothers, Johnny Hanvey and Gordon Hanvey both of Anniston, AL; grandchildren, Shelby Whitaker, Lesley Cupo, Joey Wilson, Lee Smith; Seven of his great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Edward Lackey; brother-in-law, Jerry Lackey.
Mr. Hanvey is preceded in death by his daughter, LaDonna Chiree Whitaker; wife, Susan Diane Hanvey; mother, Jura Mae Hanvey; grandson, Michael Shawn Whitaker.
Pallbearers will be, Joey Wilson, Lee Smith, Adam Cupo, Nick Arnold, Bubba Champion, Tim Lackey, and Charlie Word.
Mr. Hanvey served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1990 where he received numerous medals and accommodations, and was a member to the Church of Christ in Oxford, AL. Mr. Hanvey worked for Lee Brass for 12 years and retired from B.R. Williams Trucking Company. Mr. Hanvey graduated from Wellborn High School in 1967 and was an avid Alabama football fan.
