Johnny Martin Sr.

Funeral services for Johnny W. Martin Sr., 72, of Ohatchee, will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Brother Brian Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Munford. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Martin died Tuesday at Stringfellow Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Maddox Martin; daughter, Julia Martin; sons, Tommy Martin (Charlotte) and Johnny Martin Jr. (Kim); grandchildren, Matthew Pearce, Jennifer Salster (Tim), Stephanie Bowen (Daniel), T.J. Martin, Nicholas Martin, Brandon Poore and Casey Poore; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Champion; best friend, Tom Snyder; four legged friend, Trixie; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Lee and Anna Mae Martin; sister, Geraldine Freeman and brother, Carl Martin.

Pallbearers will be Tim Salster, Daniel Bowen, T.J. Martin, Brandon Poore, Triston Salster, Sydney Maddox, Jimmy “Peanut” Thompson, and Nicholas Martin

Mr. Martin was a native of Talladega and inactive deacon at Munford Baptist Church and a member of Plum Springs Baptist Church in Eastaboga. He was an active Mason in Bowden, Ga. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and it gave him great joy to share his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Martin was an outstanding husband, father and granda. He will be greatly missed by all. The family would also like to give a special thanks to granda’s buddy and caregiver, Tim Salster for helping make his last few months very special.
