
The memorial service for Marian Lanell Laney Freeman will be held on September 5th, 2024 at 12:00pm. The service will take place at The Church of St. Michael and All Angels, officiated by Father David Hodnett.
Marian Freeman was born in Anniston, Alabama on September 3rd, 1932, and spent much of her life in Weaver, Alabama. She was a passionate and highly regarded artist, whose love for painting was matched only by her desire to share that passion with others. Over the years, she taught and mentored countless students, nurturing their creativity and leaving a lasting impact on the local art community. Her works of art can be found in homes and galleries across the country.
Beyond her artistic legacy, Marian’s greatest love was for her church, The Church of St. Michael All Angels, where she was a devoted and faithful member for over 70 years. She poured her heart into every aspect of church life, whether through service, community outreach, or simply offering support and kindness to those around her. Her faith and commitment were unwavering, and she was truly a pillar of the church family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Wilma Laney; sister, Pearl Edwards; son, Carl Freeman; and her beloved cat, Boots
Ms. Freeman is survived by her son, Kevin (Pam) Freeman; grandchildren, Laney (Jared) Staks, Lindsay (Mike Maslak) Freeman, Shanks Whaley, Aaron Freeman; great-grandchild, Lily Staks
The family would like to send a special thank you to Marian’s caregivers Angela McCrelles, Labreeska McLeroy and Enhabit Hospice.
Burial of the ashes will also be held at The Church of St. Michael and All Angels at a later date.
