Mattie Dean Hammons

ALEXANDRIA – Funeral service for Mrs. Mattie Dean Hammons, age 78, of Alexandria will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Sylvester Smith and Krameon Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p. m Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hammons passed away, Sunday, February 13, 2011 at NEARMC.

Mrs. Hammons is survived by her husband, Farriel Dean Hammons of Alexandria; daughters, Gail (John) Lemire of Alexandria, AL, Linda Carroll of Meridian , MS , Patty (Ray) Jackson of Maryville, TN and Kim (Jonathan) Wittling of Alexandria; sisters, Marlene Withington of Lakeport, CA, Florence Bias of Huntington, WV; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brian Carroll, Mark Carroll, Alan Lemire, David Jackson, Jonathan Wittling, Joel Hammons. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Wittling and Stephen Wittling.

Mrs. Hammons was a native of San Jose, CA and resident of Alexandria. She was a member of Praise and Worship Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel F. and Margaret Austin and sister, Francis Austin.
