Graveside services for Neal Crosley Vaughn, 89, of Saks will be at Anniston Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2021, with Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Chapel Hill will be directing the service.
Neal Crosley Vaughn, age 89 of Saks, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of Saks Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Jo Smith Vaughn; daughter, Vickie Vaughn Cox (Dale); granddaughters, Kelli Lloyd and Katy Turner (Joseph); great grandchildren, Aiden Neal Lloyd, Adaline Kate Turner, and Amelia Jo Turner, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Vaughn is preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Vida Vaughn; his brothers, Ross Jr., Garvin, and Homer; and a sister, Mary Lee Kelley.
Pallbearers will be beloved family members: Dale Cox, Aiden Lloyd, Joseph Turner, Fred Vaughn, Dennis Vaughn, Dr. Ross Vaughn, and John Kelley.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the home health staff of Amedisys as well as the Palliative Comfort Care Unit of UAB for their selfless service and compassionate care.
Mr. Vaughn loved and adored his family. He was a happy and proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather who radiated love in their presence. His joys included living his life next to his only daughter, Vickie, raising grandkids, planting flowers, visiting with old friends, singing, whistling, storytelling, fishing, and boating. He possessed a phenomenal ability to weave a story full of detail and memories. He retired from Lee Brass with 42 years of service. If you were part of his life, you know he lived it with passion, joy, and love.
