

Anniston – Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Sue Jacks Chandler, 89, of Anniston will be held Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Beard officiating with burial to follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 12-2.
Mrs. Chandler passed peacefully Friday, April 15, 2016 at her home in Anniston.
Mrs. Chandler is survived by her daughter, Nora Jean (Ronald) Brooks; son, Neal Lee (Rita) Chandler; sisters, Violet Heath, and Ossie Reid; brothers, Lonzo Jacks Jr., and Harvey (Ruth) Jacks; grandchildren, Mark (Rebecca) Chandler, Michael Tate, Stephanie Holt, Christy (Jody) Taylor, and Daniel (Aprile) Brooks; great-grandchildren, Avery Chandler, Piper Chandler, Luke Brooks, Allison Ford, and Braden Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Mrs. Chandler was a long time resident of Anniston and a member of New Haven Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, and watching the vegetables grow in her garden. Most of all Mrs. Chandler, or “Me-Maw” as her grandchildren called her, loved being with her immediate and extended family. She was an amazing cook and often would spend many hours cooking Sunday meals for her loved ones. Me-Maw will be missed by all her family and many friends.
The family would like to thank her beloved friend and caregiver, Barbara Garmany; and a special thanks to hospice and her caregivers.
Mrs. Chandler is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Chandler; grandson, Chris Chandler; parents, Lonzo and Josie Jacks; brother, Alvin Jacks; sisters, Nona Webb, Ruth Curry, and Shirley Smith.
