Phillip Matthews passed away on Wednesday December 10th, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife Betty; his sisters Cindy Acker (Robert), Tammy Powell (Frank); his brothers, Steve Matthews and Todd Matthews (Sonya); and nieces and nephews; Eric and Gage Matthews, Kenny and Josh Kirk, Robby Acker, Jeanie Johnson, and Cary Lambert (Tidmus).
He is preceded in death by his parents; William and Edna Matthews.
There will be a celebration of life service in honor of Mr Matthews on Monday December 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Gray Brown Service Mortuary 1329 Wilmer Avenue Anniston Alabama 36201 in the chapel with Mr. Gordon Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon preceding the service. Immediately following the service, there will be a graveside service at Anniston Memorial Gardens 4000 US_431 Anniston Alabama 36206.
Phil Matthews was a devoted family man, loving husband to his wife Betty, and together they shared a deep connection with nature and their community. An avid outdoorsman, Phil enjoyed watching Alabama football, fishing, and tending to his garden. He was known for his kind heart and gentle spirit, often putting others before himself. Phil and Betty were inseparable, sharing countless memories and adventures together. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
