Robert Hayden "Bob" Pope

Funeral service for Robert Hayden "Bob" Pope, 85, will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Reeves and the Rev. Milton Harris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Mr. Pope passed away Monday afternoon at his residence. Mr. Pope is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edna Wade Pope; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, niece, Becky Feazell, Becky Dickerson, Evelyn Dutton, Brenda Haynes and Veronice Davis. Mr. Pope is preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. "Alex" and Bessie Wood Pope; sisters, Jane Isaac and Rose Lemieux; brother, Wallace Pope. Pallbearers will be Chase Harris, Cody Harris, Sam Timmons, Doug Wade, Steve Wade and Gordon Timmons. Honorary pallbearers will be The Men's Bible Class at Hill Crest Baptist Church. Mr. Pope was a faithful member of Hill Crest Baptist Church for 64 years. He served as a deacon, Senior Citizens Director and did maintenance for 10 years. Mr. Pope was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Ryder Nationwide Inc. for 35 years and the Anniston Rescue Squad for 15 years, where he worked his way up to Captain. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and to Dr. Almeda Frede. The family requests no flowers.
