

Born July 14, 1914 to the late A.J. and Edith Hardy, Roy Hardy was one of 7 children. Mr. Hardy had many talents and interests, including music, fishing, spending time with family, and always having a project to keep him busy. He was also a master mason of the Anniston Masonic Lodge 700. Mr. Hardy worked in Mobile shipyards during World War II and was a journeyman in both welding and millwright at Alabama Water and Pipe Shop where he worked for over forty-one years before retiring. After retirement, Mr. Hardy worked from home with his life-long partner and wife of seventy-three years Jewell E. Hardy in a ceramic shop the two operated for many years.
Survivors include his wife Jewel E. Hardy of Anniston and their children, daughters Jane Van Cleve of Huntsville, Diane Varner of Anniston, Evelyn Bowles of Tampa, Florida, and son Rick Hardy of Anniston; eight grandchildren, Donna Mundy of Daphne, Cleve Mundy of Atlanta, Georgia, Shaun Mundy of Huntsville, Richard Varner of Anniston, Rhonda Morgan of Huntsville, Shannon Johnston of Tampa, Florida, Stephen Grant Bowles of New York, and Tyler Hardy of Anniston; and several great-grandchildren.
He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.
The Hardy family would like to express heart-felt appreciation to Amedisys Hospice Care and the caregivers that assisted during Mr. Hardy’s final days.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with a viewing 2 hours prior. Pallbearers will be Cleve Mundy, Shaun Mundy, Richard Varner, Shannon Johnston, Stephen Grant Bowles, and Tyler Hardy. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens.
