Ruby passed peacefully at home leaving behind her warmth, faith, strength, endurance and quaint joy. Ruby lived a life rooted in love for her family, her church, and the simple beauty of the world around her.
Ruby found deep comfort in her church, where her faith guided her daily life. She cherished tending to her plants and flowers, taking care of her yard and found great delight in watching the deer and hummingbirds that visited her backyard- small moments of nature that brought her peace and joy. She also dearly loved her cat, Missy, who brought her companionship and comfort.
Ruby is survived by her loving daughter Deborah Fleming (Myron) of Alexandria, Alabama, her son Kenneth McDonald and Rick Fleming who she loved like a son, grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters Emma Jean Peace and Betty Chapman (Lamar) and her brother James Bittle.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; Cecil Bittle and Sarah Francis Woodruff, her husbands; Ted McDonald and Ralph Baxter, her son; Larry McDonald, her daughters; Rita McDonald and Pam Stewart, her brother; Jerry Bittle and sister; Margaret Potts.
Ruby will be remembered for her gentle spirit and her devotion to her family and the quaint grace with which she moved through life.
Services for Ruby will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Thursday, December 4th, 2025. Visitation will be from 12pm to 1pm with the service starting at 1pm with Pastor Trey Brown officiating. Pallbearers will be Lamar Chapman, Myron Fleming, Billy Fleming, Rick Fleming, Scott Chapman and Luke Chapman.
