Sidney C. Harris

Funeral service for Sidney C. Harris, 86, of Weaver, will be 2:00 pm, Today, November 20, 2012, at 1st Baptist Church of Weaver with Rev. Ron Sweatt and Rev. Scott Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 – till service time at the church. Mr. Harris died Saturday evening at RMC.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Florence H. Harris; son, Donald C. Harris (Peggy) of Madison; grandchildren, Sid Harris (Pam) of Oxford; Kay Harris Lyon of Harvest; Steve Harris Jr. of Oxford, and Celeste Hill (Heath) of Chelsea; eight great grandchildren; brother, David Harris of Anniston; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his son, Steve A. Harris Sr.; parents, Ralph and Vivian Harris; three sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Ray, Gene Bussey, Gerald Cobb, Arnold Johnson, David Boyd, and Greg Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carpenters Sunday School Class.

Mr. Harris was a longtime resident of Weaver and a member of 1st Baptist Church Weaver. He retired as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the local Sheet Metal Workers Union 48. He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Harris enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and camping. He will be missed by his family, his friends and his church.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in his memory to 1st Baptist Church of Weaver.
