He was born to Tommy and Savannah Williams on January 17, 1924 in Newell, Alabama. He was the youngest of eleven children who grew up on a farm in rural Alabama during the Depression. He attended school at Smyrna Baptist Church and Woodland High in Randolph County.
Theron served our country in the United States Army during WWII. When he returned home, he tried his hand at several different vocations. Then God placed him in a job that became his life’s work as an insurance agent for Liberty National Life Insurance Company. Shortly after that, he married Evelyn, and they made Ohatchee their home. God blessed them with three children and a rewarding life in the church and community for 40 years. After retiring, he served as a Minister at Hokes Bluff Baptist Church, Lakeview Baptist Church, East 22nd Street Baptist Church and Corinth Baptist Church. Later on, they sold their small farm and moved to Saks where they lived for ten years.
After Evelyn passed away, God blessed him with a second wife, Palmer. They have spent the past 10 years enjoying a happy life together in Oxford. When they married he received two daughters Kathryn Brown McGinnis and Cindy Brown Hetrick, and three granddaughters, Jennifer Ann Brown, Mary Kathryn Brown Thomas and Staci Brown Hardwick.
Most recently, he was an active member and served as a deacon at Lakeview Baptist Church. He loved farming, fishing, good hard work and spending time with his family. He was honest, faithful, and had a great sense of humor. Mr. Williams was always willing to help people with any need they may have had. He loved his family, his friends, his neighbors, and never met a stranger. But most importantly he wanted everyone to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If you were fortunate enough to have met him he would have asked you if you knew Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Evelyn Sprayberry Williams, his parents, Tommy Rastus Williams and Savannah Lovell Williams, and ten brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Palmer Brown Williams, three children, Ardith Coates, Paula Nunnelly, Brian Alan Williams, granddaughters, Paige Nunnelly Shaddix, Hollie Nunnelly Singleton, Maggie Nunnelly, great-grandsons, Taylor Shaddix, Cade Shaddix, Rowan Singleton, sister-in-law, Mary Williams and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will take place Wednesday morning at 11:00 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Oxford with Brother Jerry Starling officiating. The body will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School class. The family will receive friends and family Tuesday evening from 5-8 at Gray Brown Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at any Baptist Church.
