Funeral Services for Thomas David Collins (Tom), born on September 3, 1951 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina will be held at 2pm on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Rev. Paul Brasher and Stephen Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time at the funeral home. Tom passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, including his wife of 52 years, at his home on Monday, April 10, 2023.
Tom is survived by his wife, Peggy Collins; his daughter Tisha Stewart (Ben); and his son Rusty Collins (Whitney); his mother Dorothy Collins; his sisters Sara Collins and Lisa Henson (Dalton); his uncle Travis Collins (Keri), his aunt Betty Ruth Collins, his grandchildren Nathan Dean Stewart, Nolan Donovan Collins and Molly Morgan Collins.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Freddie D. Collins and his precious granddaughter Nora Jean Collins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Mason, Daniel Mason, Mike Winn, Ted Towns, Conrad Gamble, and Jason Bedford. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Retirees of Monsanto/ Solutia.
Tom was a member of the 1969 graduating class of Anniston High School and then earned a drafting degree from Ayers State Technical College. He retired from Solutia as a draftsman and machine inspector. He was honored to be given the name “BawBaw” by his first grandson Nathan and later became BawBaw to his second grandson, Nolan and his granddaughter Molly who always put a smile on his face by telling him, “I love you THIS much!” while holding out her little arms.
We would like to thank Ronald Haynes for his friendship, calls, visits, and prayers. We would also like to thank the special staff at Lakeside Hospice for their care, especially Chaplain Darryl Wood and his nurse Pam Chandler, RN who became family in the few short weeks she knew us.
