

Weaver - Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Phillips Bowles, 90 of Weaver, AL will be Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on US Hwy 431 in Anniston, AL. with Rev. Ken Bailey officiating with burial following at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, AL. The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bowles passed away at the home of her daughter on Monday, November 10, 2014 in Manteo, NC.
Mrs. Bowles is survived by her brother, James H. Phillips Jr. of Emerald Isle, NC; sister, Jean Wells of Weaver, AL, daughters, Elizabeth Gail Luciano of Manteo, NC, and Melanie B. Land of Oxford, AL; son, Curtis W. Bowles Jr. of Weaver, AL; grandchildren, Jennifer Maher, Patrick Maher, Loren Land, Emily Land, Curtis W. Bowles III, and Michael Bowles; great-grandchild, James Brayden Bowles.
Mrs. Bowles was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Curtis W. Bowles Sr.; parents, James H. Phillips Sr., and Effie W. Phillips; brothers, Clayburn H. Phillips, and Preston Phillips; sisters, Gladys Watson, and Nadia Patton.
Mrs. Bowles received her business degree from Draughn Business College, and served faithfully as a civil servant for the US Army at Ft. McClellan, AL for 30 years. Mrs. Bowles was a charter member of the Church of the Covenant, and prior to moving to North Carolina; she was a member of Weaver Congregational Methodist Church. She was a long time member of the Nanny Douthit Chapter 438 of the Eastern Stars. Mrs. Bowles was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with her friends, children, grandchildren, and little Brayden. She was an avid painter, history buff and vowed to share a smile and hello to everyone she met.
