

Funeral service for William Thomas Owens, 83, of Anniston, will be 1pm Wednesday, September 16th, at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Rev. Marty Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Opal Owens; daughters, Pamela Lynn Carter (Jason), and Cynthia Denise Moore (Merrill); grandchildren, Matthew T. McGuffey (Stephanie), Christopher M. Moore, Micah O. McGuffey (Stefanie), Kelley E. Montoya (Chad), and Kendall C. Carter; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Tyler McGuffey, Alayna, Aiden, and Andrew Montoya, and Owen, Tucker, and Sam McGuffey.
Mr. Owens is preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Fannie Z. Owens, and sister, Rowena Goble.
Pallbearers will be Matthew McGuffey, Christopher Moore, Micah McGuffey, Chad Montoya, Greg Tolbert, and Melvin Womack. Honorary pallbearers will be the West Park Heights Baptist Church Sunday School class, (The Rock)
Mr. Owens served in the US Navy aboard the USS Tortuga in the Korean War. He retired from Monsanto Co. after over 30 years of service as an electrician. He was a talented carpenter and woodworker, he used his many skills to serve others by participating in mission trips with the “Helping Hammers” ministry.
Mr. Owens was a deacon and faithful member of West Park Heights Baptist Church for many years. His love and faith was an inspiration to his family and friends.
His world revolved around his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice.
