Joseph Allen Mirkovich, born October 31, 1954, in Mineola, New York, to Dorcas and Joseph Mirkovich, faithfully entered the presence of his Lord on December 20, 2025 after a lifetime devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
At the age of sixteen, while attending the Church of God youth camp in Wimauma, Florida, Joseph felt the unmistakable call of God on his life to preach the Gospel. That calling shaped every step of his journey. He later attended Lee College, earning an Associate Degree, where he also shared his musical talents as a bass player for the Lee Singers. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Betty Mudd, who would walk beside him in ministry for decades.
Joseph dedicated more than 50 years of faithful service to the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee). His ministry spanned many roles, including Associate Pastor, Senior Pastor, Evangelism Director, Regional Superintendent, Administrative Bishop, and Director of the Church of God Publishing House. No matter the title, Joseph’s heart remained fixed on sharing the love of Christ and serving others with humility and compassion.
He carried a deep burden for people across the world and held a special love and respect for the men and women of the armed services. His service extended internationally through his work on the Church of God International Cross Cultural Board. He also served as both member and chairman of the Church of God Ministry to the Military Board, and as chairman of the Church of God Chaplains Commission Board. In recognition of his spiritual leadership and lasting impact, Joseph was inducted into the Pentecostal Theological Seminary’s Hall of Prophets.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorcas Mirkovich, and his youngest brother, Glen Mirkovich.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Mirkovich; his son, Jason; his daughter, Beverly; his cherished grandsons, Joseph “Joey,” Jason, and Riley; his daughter-in-law, Kelly; his son-in-law, Dennis; and his brother, Brian, along with Brian’s family.
Joseph will be remembered as a faithful servant, a devoted husband and father, a loving grandfather, and a man who lived fully surrendered to God’s call. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the Gospel he proclaimed, and the faith he passed on to future generations.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
