

Michael W. Diogostine, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Waterbury, CT August 23, 1943 he was the youngest son to Joseph Sr. and Philomena (Pomponio). He was proceeded in death by his parents and niece Deborah. Michael is survived by his children, Nicholas, Anisa Grantham (Wayne) and Michael, his siblings, Joseph Jr. (Janice), Lucille (Bill) French and Patricia (Kevin) McNerney, He was “Poppy” to his grandchildren, Miranda and Jada and Melissa and Matthew - with 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and many friends. Michael was a passionate man, loved his family, his friends and God. The family would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to his special friends Tammy Herzberg and Bob Thomas and their families- we love you for the love you shared with Michael. Michael lived most of his life in Waterbury, where he graduated from Kaynor Technical High School in 1961. He served in the CT National Guard 102nd Infantry. He was employed in his early years as an auto mechanic at Nathan Hales before opening his own shop Michael's Automotive on Wolcott Road. After leaving CT in 1981 he relocated to Orlando, FL where his career moved him from the garage to the service department. He worked as a well-respected Service and Parts Director for the next 25 years - Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and in 1987 he was brought to Savannah GA by Jay Kaminsky to open the southside- Southern Motors Honda Service Department. His attention to detail and dedicated work ethic was recognized and awarded by the National Auto Dealers Association. He loved working with the public and his technicians. He returned to Orlando and retired in 2006 from Royal Volkswagon. He touched the lives of those around him and will be sadly missed.
