Barbara Ransom Owenby

Mrs. Owenby was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 23, 1958 to J. D. and Juanita Johnston Ransom. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Archdale. She was preceded in death on July 8, 2001 by her husband, Ernest “Pete” Owenby.

Surviving are her sons; Reverend James Wyatt and Christopher Wyatt of Archdale and Tracy Wyatt of West Virginia. She has five sisters; Jackie Braunstein of Archdale; Marsha Gobble and husband Mike of Thomasville; Ellen Tucker of Archdale; Wendi Dudash and husband John of High Point; and Joann Proctor and husband Donnie of High Point. Mrs. Owenby also has two brothers; Carl “Rusty” Ransome of Archdale and Bobby Maner and wife Stephanie of Denton; five nieces and five nephews. There are three grandchildren; Jodi Guinn, Addie Deweese, and Christopher Trexler; and one great grandson, Hayden Guinn.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 P.M. in Faith Baptist Church, 2984 Rob Cruthis Road in Archdale by the Reverend Steve Smith and Reverend James Wyatt. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 3:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family to help with final expenses.
