

Carl Kennedy, long time resident of High Point, NC passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Serenity House in Huntersville, NC due to complications of congestive heart failure. Carl was born on June 29,1925, a son of the late Robert Cicero Kennedy and Willian Elder Kennedy of Trinity, NC.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Vermell M. Kennedy, and daughters Robin Kennedy Briles and Kathy Dawn Kennedy. Survivors are daughter Michelle Kennedy Esancy and husband James of Huntersville, NC., four grandchildren, Rusty Briles of Archdale, NC., Corey Briles of Guam; Kali Esancy of Seattle, WA; and Camden Esancy of Huntersville, NC.; and one great-grandson Matthew Briles of Thomasville, NC. He was also known as "Paw Paw" to numerous others.
After graduating high school, Carl worked as a shipping clerk for Monarch Furniture until he left in 1951 to join the army. After serving his country proudly for 2 years, he entered High Point College where upon graduation began his teaching career. He taught at East Davidson High School until his retirement in 1985. Once his retirement began so did his desire to go back to college where he obtained his Masters Degree in Education from A & T University at the age of 62.
Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at Topsail Island, and reminiscing about his army days. He also loved tending to his friend's gardens with his Ford Tractor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him. He will always be remembered for his wonderful smile, patience, and generosity.

You have truly been a blessing to our family and we will never forget the excellent care, support, and compassion you provided for Carl and the family during the last several months of his life.
Funeral will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Sechrest Funeral Home in Archdale, NC. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery in High Point, NC.
