
He was born July 9, 1924 in Randolph County, the son of John W. and Eva Lassiter Saunders. He was a kind, gentle, loving, giving man and had many special friends. To the surprise of many, he had a talent of playing the piano by ear and played beautifully. He enjoyed being outside; and even when he was very sick, he could be found picking up sticks for his brush pile, which is 20’ x 30’.
He served in the US Army, World War II, and was a retired carpenter and construction worker and at one time he and his brothers owned and operated a printing company. He was a member of Glenola Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers Jack, Randall, Austin, and Gene Saunders.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Faye Steed Saunders; sisters Dianne Saunders, June Saunders Rabalais and husband Clint, and sister Lorraine Saunders Moore and husband Robert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 on Monday at Sechrest Funeral Service in Archdale, a service will immediately follow in the chapel. Burial will be at Floral Garden Cemetery, High Point.
Family would also like to welcome visitors at the home of Mrs. Faye Saunders, 990 Steed Rd. Randleman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of High Point, 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point NC 27262.
