Born June 4, 1929 in Chicago, Adeline was the only child of Frances and Marie (nee Hinchey) Egan. Adeline attended St. John Cantius Catholic School and church. Adeline graduated from Notre Dame High School for girls, where she formed deep and lasting friendships that became her extended family. After high school, Adeline entered the novitiate, preparing to become a nun. However, after falling ill, she returned home and chose to discontinue her training.
Adeline later started working at Home Insurance, where she met her one true love, Edward S. Gall. They married in May 1961 and initially lived in Cicero before moving to Des Plaines to be closer to Edward’s job at United Airlines.
Adeline stayed at home and dedicated herself to raising their 4 children, especially their disabled son, Michael. In 1976, Michael went to live at Misericordia, where he received exceptional care that could not be provided at home. Adeline and Edward became involved in various fundraising efforts to support MIsericordia Home. In 1987, Adeline began working as a teacher’s aide at Park School in Evanston.
Adeline was the beloved wife of the late Edward S Gall, loving mother of Maureen (Daniel) Dote, the late Michael Gall, John (Anne) Gall and Kathleen (John) Casillas and cherished grandmother of Anthony and Nicole Dote and Adam, Julia and Emma Casillas and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Adeline was a dear friend to many. Adeline loved her children and grandchildren immensely. She loved babysitting for her grandchildren and played a significant role in their formative years.
Adeline’s family joyfully celebrates her reunion with her beloved husband, Edward, her son, Michael and all her friends and family who went ahead. They await her in heaven with cocktails, a cup of tea and playing cards at a crowded dining room table, a scene that would have brought her great joy.
Adeline will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and the love she shared with those around her. She will also be remembered for her fabulous jello-molds! She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and loving her.
The Gall children will be forever grateful to Amar, Adeline’s live-in caretaker, who made it possible for their mom to spend her final years in the home where she lovingly raised her own family and has lived in since 1967.
