

Anne T. Dempsey (nee Tomas), 86, of Arlington Heights, was born May 31, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., to the late John and Helen (nee Muszynski) Tomas, and passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, in Arlington Heights. Anne was the beloved wife of the late John Dempsey; loving mother of Margaret A. Dempsey, Maureen S. Dempsey, Kathleen M. (Philip) Penner, John M. Dempsey and Michael D. Dempsey; cherished grandmother of Anne, John and Maureen; dear sister of Agnes (Arthur) Van Hese and the late Edward (Margaret) Tomas, Joseph (Emma) Tomas, Mary (the late Raymond) Van Hese and Stanley Tomas; and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Anne was a police officer in Detroit for 10 years ending in the late 1950's and served 18 years as a police officer in Livonia, Mich., retiring in 1986 at the rank of sergeant. She loved crossword puzzles, bridge and reading murder mysteries. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell St., Arlington Heights for a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Contributions to Misericordia/Heart of Mercy Center (a community of care for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities, many of whom are also physically challenged) 6300 N.
