Armella Mary Maguire passed away on December 8th, 2022 in Arlington Heights, IL. She was born on August 11th, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Anthony and Clara Piasecki.
She is survived by her children Daniel Patrick (Donna) Maguire Jr., Tom Maguire and Mary Claire (Paul) Dzieginski, her grandchildren Kristin (Justin) Mayes, Brian (Megan) Maguire, Daniel Patrick (Katie) Maguire, Kelly (Tim) Cartwright, Keri (Jeremy) Huck, Emily and Quinn Dzieginski and her great-grandchildren Ryan and Sarah Mayes, Caleb, Charlotte, Will Maguire, Claire and Connor Maguire, Chance Cartwright, Aeden Heidke, Liliana and Wyatt Huck.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel Patrick Maguire Sr., her son Timothy Maguire, her brothers Edwin (the late Vera) Piasecki and Norbert (the late Marjorie) Piasecki.
First and foremost, Armella loved her family – she would and did anything for family. In her early years, Father, Mother and her two brothers (Ed and Norb) were the love of her life. As she grew, as in high school days, her “family” extended to her best girl friends who became a tight knit group. They did everything together, school, jobs and just plain hanging around – they were inseparable. Eventually, boys entered the picture. Her family got larger. Enter Danny Maguire.
Her family got larger – Dan and Armella fell in love. It was a match made for the ages. In 1950 she married the love of her life which lasted over 50 years. They danced, bowled, loved, played cards, traveled, wintered and loved together. They were a great couple, fearlessly supporting each other – taking on each challenge as it presented itself. No obstacle was too large.
When Dan fell ill, she was his greatest provider, making sure he had the comfort my father needed.
As her “family” grew, her love absorbed the growth. Armella and Dan were the main event at weddings, baptisms, communions, baseball and softball games, swim and water polo meets, piano recitals, college fraternity gatherings, graduations and even funerals. Armella and Dan were there. They were always there.
Children begat children – that's where she really shined. Her grandchildren filled her life. Be it football weekends, swim meets, soccer games, baseball, space launches, weddings – it didn’t matter, you could count on Grandma being there. She reveled in her grandchildren’s laughter, and counseled them when they had tears. She was ever present.
Armella was not a giant among women (she was 5 foot 3 and 1/5 inches) – she wasn’t famous. What she was, and still is – is a wonderful woman who lived life to its fullest – one who brought joy and happiness to those who knew her. We will miss her gentle spirit and laughter. She is once again dancing up a storm with Grandpa, watching out for her brothers, and making sure Timmy is home on time.
