

Barbara Kirby NerwinOf Mount ProspectBarbara K. Nerwin was born August 25, 1927 in Chicago to William and Olivia "Alice" Kirby. She passed away December 28, 2014 at Belmont Village in Buffalo Grove.Barbara grew up in Chicago ice skating the rivers and parks and watching the sunrises from the beaches. During WWII she supported the war effort by soldering war materials. She was a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell. She graduated from Roosevelt University with a degree in Chemistry, before becoming a high school chemistry teacher. Barbara and her husband raised their family in Mount Prospect were she became active with the Campfire Girls. She enjoyed spending her summers sailing on Lake Michigan and the winters in Padre Island, TX.Barbara is survived by her children Denise (Mike) Nutt, Glenn (Kathy) Nerwin, Deborah (Lamont) Lewis and Gary (Laura) Nerwin; her grandchildren Nicholas, Erica, Amanda, Lauren, Colton, Julie, Colin and Stephen.Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Henry Nerwin; her siblings William, Alice, Arnold and Marianne and by her parents.Visitation Friday, January 2, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Funeral service 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd.
