She died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in Arlington Heights, IL.Virginia worked as an administrator for various local financial institutions. She was a member of Our Mother of Good Council and volunteered at the Neumann Center in Philadelphia. Virginia held 2 US Patents for her invention of the Back Pack on Wheels and a Tea bag dispenser. Virginia loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandsons, and was loved by all.She is survived by her husband, John McDermott, whom she married December 28, 1946 in Ardmore, PA; son, John F. (Kathy) McDermott, Jr.;, grandsons, Matthew McDermott and John "Jack" McDermott, III; sister, Bette (the late Charles) Barr, many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-laws, Harry Pohlig and Robert (Joan) McDermott.She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Frances Butera, Joseph Butera, Thomas Butera, Charles Butera and Mary Pohlig.Services and Interment were private.In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Lutheran Life Communities Foundation, 800 West Oakton St., Arlington Hts., IL 60004-9928. www.lutheranhome.org.
