HEMBD, Claudia M.Of Prospect HeightsClaudia M. Hembd (nee McKnight), 88, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday March 20, 2016." She was born in Seattle, the daughter of the late Leon "Bud" and Frances (nee Dunstan) McKnight. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Seattle in 1945, she moved to Chicago and studied Engineering at Northwestern University." She married the late Alfred E. Hembd in 1947, they moved to Prospect Heights in 1950 where they raised their six children, Alfred L. (Patricia), Paula (Bob) Kenny, Barbara, Ronald (Lynne), Edward (Jeanine) and Claudia." She is the proud grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 12, with number 13 due very soon.Claudia partnered with her husband, Al, as owner/operators of Accurate Metal Products Co., in Skokie for 60 years." Besides her home and family, she enjoyed gardening and reading." She played the violin and the piano.Visitation Friday March 25, 2016 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights where the funeral service will be held on Saturday March 26, 2016 at 10:00 am."
