Cornelio “Nel” Villejo, age 94, of Arlington Heights passed away on July 25, 2024. He was born on January 4, 1930 in the Philippines. Nel was married to Marina for 55 wonderful years and widowed for 11 years. He was a devoted father to Ronald (Karen Krevchuck) Villejo, Jeanette (Joseph) Fye, Rory (Snezana Nikic) Villejo and Marinela (Christopher McCollum) Villejo. Nel cherished his grandchildren, Lexi (Jeremy) Hitchens, Eva Krevchuck-Villejo, and Sammie Fye.
Nel was preceded in death by his wife, Marina (Encarnacion) Villejo, his parents, Joel and Sotera Villejo, and all his siblings Purificacion Goduco, Narcisa Villanueva, Fatima Bacalan, Filimon Villejo, and an unborn sister.
Cornelio was a mechanical engineer and worked very hard at several power and energy companies throughout his career. In 1968, he amazingly moved his young family from the Philippines to the United States in the hopes for a better life. They became residents of Arlington Heights in 1972. Nel was a devout catholic parishioner at Our Lady of the Wayside, and an avid Cubs fan. He loved to keep up with technology and devices. But Nel’s greatest pride and joy was his family, he was such a proud father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Services will be held privately.
