

Dan was born in Chicago on July 27, 1950, to parents Julius and Martha (nee Nierzwicki) Popp. He grew up in Edison Park and attended Taft High School. Following his graduation, he attended the University of Illinois for his BA in Accounting and then went on to Roosevelt University for his MBA.
While attending a Hustlers Ski Club meeting in 1974, he met Dolores “Dee” Piotrowski, and the couple went on to get married on September 18, 1976. Together they lived in Lincoln Park before moving to Arlington Heights to raise their children, Suzi and Dave.
Dan was very active and enjoyed a variety of sports, including bowling, golfing, softball, skiing, and many more. He also enjoyed rock music and playing cards with friends. He was a fan of the Fighting Illini and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears.
Dan and Dee loved to travel and visited countries all over the world. They went on many family vacations and continued the family trips with their children and grandchildren. His family was very important to him, and he regularly attended all of his grandchildren’s activities.
Dan was a very animated and passionate man who loved to make his family and friends smile. He had a big personality and loved social gatherings.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and left a lasting impression on many.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Dee Popp, his children, Suzi (William) Berkley and Dave (Nicole) Popp, his grandchildren, Hayden, Caitlyn, Liam, Lily, and Reagan, and his siblings, Gloria (Craig) Meier and Joe (Judie) Popp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dan’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 2 p.m. to time of Memorial Service 5 p.m. all at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
