Daniel Joseph Shields was born on May 29, 1954 in Misawa, Japan. He died Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Shields was resident at the Meadows for 5 years, and a former resident of Little City. He was a former participant in the Special Olympics.

Daniel is survived by his siblings, Joe (Joanne) Shields, Sharon Shields, Debbie Shields, Colleen Shields, Peggy (the late Michael) Mulvihill, Bridget Shields, Mick (Sarah) Shields and Alan (Nicole) Shields; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis Ann (nee Spink) and Bernerd Shields.

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights, Illinois. Prayers 9:15 am Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Glueckert Funeral Home proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Burial is at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
