Delores C. Kowalczyk, 86, was born on October 5, 1935, in Chicago, IL to Anton and Marie (nee Reitmeier) Berger. She died Friday, July 22, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.
Delores was a passionate learner and avid reader with a curious mind and open heart. She earned many credits in higher education, completing a course of study in Religion, Conflict, and Peace through Harvard University. Delores studied abroad and traveled the world, overcoming her fear of flying after persevering through the hijacking of TWA flight 847. She worked as a customer service representative, travel agent, and librarian assistant, yet, her most cherished role was as a docent at the Art Institute of Chicago, a position she held for nearly twenty years. Delores loved playing bridge with her girlfriends and enjoying a good swim. She was renowned for throwing amazing parties and having a rescued dog in her care.
Delores is survived by her husband Edward Anthony whom she married, September 24, 1960, her children Edward James (Arturo Febry), Susan Marie (John Philip) Bolde, and John Anthony; her grandchildren Zosia Marie, Izak Edward, and Ezekiel John Bolde; her siblings Carol and Anthony Berger.
Memorial Mass, 10:00 am, Monday, July 25, 2022, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Visitation starting at 9:00 am.
