Jen-  We are saddened to hear the news about your Dad.      Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.  We most fondly remember Dieter from your annual 4th of July gatherings and know that he will be deeply missed.

When I think of all the times Dieter was there to share in your family events, it's plain to see how he loved you and his grandchildren. He was such a kind man. Even my own kids at so young an age could see his warm heart. How they loved to be teased so playfully by Dieter and what great laughs we shared! Our family will miss him dearly. We loved to have Dieter in our home for many family gatherings. He would never turn down one of Louie's meals. 
I was happy to have shared a great conversation with him at one of his favorite places, Arlington Race Track in August. 
 He may have seemed to have a rough exterior, but we saw his heart of gold.  We will miss him and belly laughs.

One thing that I will always and be grateful for was that Dieter, my grandpa, was at almost everyone of my baseball and football games growing up and even in high school. He might not have been the most warming and welcoming but he had his own ways of showing that he cared and this way in particular will stick with me forever.

Our deepest condolences to you & your family Jen.  I didn't know your dad very well but I will always remember his presence at every party you had at your house. And it was apparent how much he was loved by you & your children. Jack, Sloane & Luke were very lucky. His memorial service was beautiful & you have created memories that will be remembered for a lifetime. May you find comfort, peace & humor in all the things you loved about him. The heart-felt speeches honoring him at the memorial service were beautiful.  Please remember he will always be with you.

 I enjoyed sharing many family gatherings with Dieter.  May you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

My favorite memory of your dad was at a family party you had around Christmas time when Jack was a little baby. Dieter was sitting at the dining table with a gruff look on his face and the kids that were there seemed to be giving him a wide berth. But not my Dylan. He was maybe 3 yrs old at the time, and maybe he thought Dieter was Santa. He went over to him and climbed in his lap and stayed there. Dieter just hugged him and fed him cake. He was such a lovely man, it makes me cry to write and remember this. much love to you, Sarah Wood

Dieter was a man who imposed high principles upon himself. He was tough and strong with a golden heart. He made his own breaks, relying only on himself. To me a friend like no other. Always honest, upright and trustworthy. 

When faced, having to make a difficult decision, I can still hear him saying I know, I know, 
I know. 
Or, at the Democratic Convention in Chicago, standing on the front seat of my
VW Beetle and looking out from the Sun-Roof, offering with a loud voice haircuts and shaves
to the Flower Children congregating in Lincoln Park. We barely escaped.
On another occasion, an upcoming starlet announced a topless dip in the lake at North Avenue Beach. Unconcerned about that, Dieter took a swim by the rocks and laid down to sunbathe.
A Chicago Patrol car came by and rolled over his arm. Dieter got up and gave the Cops his business. They promptly arrested him. So now Dieter sat in jail with tire marks on his arm. They let him go .and he never lodged a complaint.
There are many stories about Dieter.

My condolences are going out to Suzanne, Jennifer and to their loved ones. To Hans,
his brother, his family and to his many friends.
Dieter was a special person and we mourn him.
He will always be in our memories, hearts and mind and I will miss him.

May God bless all of you for the loss of "Dieter",  I will always remember his strong presence, of  course " the mustache", those beautiful eyes, and his love for all of you.  His memory will always be with you and live on through your children. So sorry for your loss, he will be missed and never forgotten.

Our deepest sympathy to every member of Schulz family.  Please know that the American Legion lost a family member as well.  Dieter is one-of-a-kind and will definitely be missed by many.

Dieter was a great friend with whom I enjoyed sharing ideas and laughter. Some may have said that he was kind of gruff upon first meeting him- but that's because they didn't really know him. He was always generous and truly interested in how everything was going. A true-blue friend.

Every morning, I looked forward to opening my email because there was always something from him to make me smile, laugh, or think.

I am so sorry to share the loss of him with his family and many friends. I will deeply miss him.
