She then moved to Hoffman Estates to start her family with the late Donald Holmes. As Dolores raised her children, she worked for District 211 and Mid States Financial Corporation. Later she worked at a variety of businesses including Nordstrom, Poplar Creek Country Club and the Streamwood Library. With each of her positions she made very strong bonds with her co-workers with many becoming very close friends throughout the years. At the age of 84, Dolores decided to move to Arizona where she lived at the Beatitudes Senior Living Community in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dolores had a wonderful zest for life and was loved by so many. She was so young at heart and loved to be on the go. She loved to laugh, joke around and had a great sense of humor. She loved unconditionally and was always there for her children, grandchildren and her own mother who she was extremely close to. Dolores was an amazing cook (especially Italian food) and loved to host family dinners and holidays with her children and grandchildren. She loved all of her grandchildren so very much and always made herself available to help in any way with them!! She was a wonderful artist and could draw to perfection. Dolores was the life of the party and always looked amazing! You would never see her without her hair and make-up just right at all times. She was extremely well liked by everyone she met and would always be there to lend an ear and offer solid advice. Dolores was a very strong woman who handled everything with grace and charm. Her hope, with trust in God and her faith in Christ was a cornerstone in her life.
