Doris Violet Dickinson

Doris Violet Dickinson, 91, of Arlington Heights, loving wife and soulmate for 71 years to Lester S. Dickinson, Jr; beloved mom to Nancy (Kim) Anding, Leslie (Rick) Marek, and Lester Dickinson, Sr.; loving "nana" to Jennifer (Chris) Glowacki, Michael Marek, Kelsey Anding, Lester Dickinson, Jr (Sophia Dickinson, Sara (Chris) Rolland, and Lauren (Zack) Brown; cherished great grandmother to Christopher, Elyse, and Alexandra; fond sister to the late John (Jane) Sedivy; loving daughter to the late John J and Violet (Majko) Sedivy.

Doris loved her role as "Nana", always interested in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris was a CPS elementary school teacher for several years. She approached her students with the same loving and caring spirit that she always exhibited toward her family and friends.

Doris loved playing golf, tennis, and pickleball with her husband as well as snow skiing. She was also an avid fisherman. She loved spending summer vacations with her children and grandchildren. Her and Popop loved taking the grandchildren on many field trips to the train museum, zoo, and Santa's Village; just to name a few. In later years, she enjoyed and appreciated the companionship of her caregiver, Ade.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 am on Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. James Church, 831 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Funeral Mass 10:00 am. Interment following Mass will be at All Saints Cemetery, 700 North River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016.
