Dear Tim, Kelly, Danny and family, 
 We were so sorry to hear of Dottie’s passing.  Our sympathy goes out to all of you. I know your hearts are broken.  It is ok to be sad for as long as you need. 
 Dottie was the nicest lady, always a smile when seeing her over the years.

I am so sorry to hear of Dotty's passing.  I worked with her for many years.  She was such a special person who was easy to love. She always made my day more joyful even when we were whining and complaining about our work.  I wish her family and friends the best through these hard and sad times.

Tim so sorry for your loss, thinking of you and your family

Dottie was a sweet  sister(in-law) whose place in our family and in my life can never be filled. She was loving, caring, fun, and just a special part of  our family . She was always ready to join in the fun, the holidays, the days we celebrated as a family and  being a part of it.  Dottie was into  collecting Hallmark ornaments & keepsakes,sharing interesting stories, talking over books she read or movies watched or sharing how Tim put a quick meal together in about 3 hours! She loved my brother dearly & that she loved us as much as our love for her. She will be missed at our table, but never from my heart. My prayer is that Tim, Kelly and Danny will be comforted by those that support them. Rest in peace, sweet sister- with all my love

She was not just a sister in law she was my sister. She was part of our family , since I was 12 years old. So yes that is 50years. She was always at family gatherings and gave  her heart to others. 
She bought me every year the mini and ordinal size Hallmark ornaments. Harley Davidson motorcycles. She also bought me the complete Harley Davidson  set 
Dept 56 ! 
I have the complete set and that is now retired. She always remembered my birthday and made it special. She would find me Macaw items and always thought of me. She knew my love of Harley Davidson and Parrots. 
I spent many of days and nights by my brother Tim and his wife Dottie at their home with my niece and nephew. Dottie and I would go to Cut Rate Toys (in Chicago ) and stand in line freezing  cold early at 5am even though the store did not open till 8 or 9 am  to get the toy that Kelly or Danny wanted for Christmas. One year it was the Cabbage Patch Doll. And yes we were the 3rd in line, so it was a success and we surprised Kelly that year. 
She will be truly missed. Our family has suffered another great loss of this large  family 

Dottie  was an amazing human being. May we never forget the people in our lives who made it special.

So sad to hear from my good friend Tim of Dottie's passing. She was always such a sweet, positive person; always made me feel welcome in their home. It was obvious that Tim and Dottie's marriage was a devoted, loving one. They worked hard to provide a good home for their wonderful children, Danny and Kelly. 
I wish Dottie's family the love and strength to carry on in the future without her, finding comfort in the knowledge that her pain is over, and her love for them endures.

Dottie Ryan, my sister-in-law for 47 years, was always one of us and a fond member of our family. We have so many memories of Dottie, some happy and some sad. For five years, Dottie was known to many as the top raffle ticket 50/50 seller for the Paul Kertay Scholarship Golf Outing, an event honoring my husband’s memory. She was never shy when asking someone to contribute. It seems, her Census Bureau experience, prepared her well because she was a natural and comfortable in talking to strangers.  Because of Dottie’s relentless spirit, enough money was raised every year, to sustain the scholarship. There will be a definite void in our family gatherings and I will my sister. I am reminded, “Death ends a life, not a relationship.” (Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson by Mitch Albom)

Dottie and I became friends sixty years ago this week when she sat behind me in freshman Spanish. Through thick and thin we had lots of fun, adventures and oh so many laughs. Her sense of humor never failed her.  Dottie was a wonderful wife, mother, Gaga, sister in law and cherished friend to many.
 Hers was a life well lived.  
Baby Dottie, you won't ever be forgotten. Thank you for being my friend.

Dorothy was more than just a dedicated field representative with the Chicago Region Census Bureau, she was a rare kind of professional who brought heart, positivity, and unwavering commitment to our team and everything she did. Whether she was knocking on doors, earning trust of respondents, or supporting her colleagues or mentoring new staff, she carried herself with grace, kindness and a quiet strength that made her stand out. She had that special ability to connect with people, not just to get the job done, but to make the respondents feel that their voice was heard and respected during her tenure with Census. 

Her contributions to the region and mission were invaluable and her presence was deeply missed when she decided to retire. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, former colleagues and all who had the honor of knowing her. May her memory continue to inspire us as we carry forward the work she cared so deeply about.

Tim Kelly and Danny I am so very sorry for your loss.  Right before she was diagnosed I met her and Patti for lunch and got to play catch up hearing about the grandkids. I will never forget all the precious memories formed at St Hilary. Always a good time and so very many laughs. We worked on Kelly and Jeff’s yearbook together and I think that’s when I first experienced her real sense of humor. She was a very special lady and loved by so many. My heart goes out to each of you.

Dottie was a gem to work with at the Census Bureau. We’d often call each other to commiserate, and I’d often tell her not to “sweat the small stuff”. 
A dog lover, when she visited my home & was greeted by my elderly dachshund, she kept cooing “oooh, you’re so cute, and so *fat*!”. 
Together we made visits to  our late supervisor while she was in hospice, and Dottie loved meeting ex-colleagues, as well as current co-workers for chatty lunches.
A lovely person, you will be missed, Dottie!

I had the privilege to work with and sometimes supervise Dottie. She loved her family. She always spoke highly of Tim, she knew she was blessed to have him by her side. She was thankful and proud of her 2 children. She was not just a doting grandmother but also a very proud mother. We all know her granddaughters were the light of her life and she always looked forward to loving on them as she treasured every memory. 
Unfortunately we didn't get to have our retirement lunch but the thoughts of you will keep me smiling. I miss you Dottie!
