Eleanor K. Mensching

Eleanor Mensching was born June 5, 1915, in Medford, Wisconsin to Christian and Andrea Jensen. She was called home to heaven at the age of 107 on June 22, 2022, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights where she has resided for the last 19 years.

Eleanor married her husband of 62 years, Elmer Mensching, on November 11, 1939. Mrs. Mensching was a former resident of Itasca and a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of St. Luke in Itasca. She was an operator and owner of the Mensching Grocery Store in Itasca with her husband. She was also an avid knitter, quilter, and needlepoint artist.

Eleanor, known as "Bookie" by her family, is survived by her daughter-in-law Karen (nee Hynous) Mensching, her grandchildren Jonathan (Carolyn) Mensching, Bethany (Larry) Stika, and Peter (Becky) Mensching, and her great-granddaughters Katy and Magnolia Mensching.

Eleanor is reunited in heaven with her husband Elmer, her son Donald, and her granddaughter Kathryn. Eleanor was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Minnie, and her brothers Martin, Leroy, Glen, Christian and Ted.

Visitation from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Lutheran Home & Services, St. John the Beloved Chapel, 800 W. Oakton St., Arlington Heights. Interment Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst.
