Elena Cecilia Bertolini was born July 12, 1931, in Chicago to Peter and Marie (nee Zanone) Nickele. She died peacefully surrounded by her family on June 26, 2022, in Arlington Heights.

Elena began her career at Radio Flyer in Chicago after marriage raised a family and transitioned to a career in banking which she retired from. In retirement, she enjoyed cooking and baking with family and traveling with her husband Peter.

Elena is survived by her children Peter (Jennifer) Bertolini, Julie (John) Murtaugh; her grandchildren Joseph (Amanda), Elizabeth, Natalie and Matthew; her sister Dora (James) Gramarossa, brother Richard Nickele; sister-in-law Livia Krumsee and by her many nieces and nephews.

Elena is preceded in death by her husband Peter Bertolini, son Paul Bertolini, brothers Louis Nickele, Robert Nickele, brother-in-law Russell Krumsee and sister-in-law Joy (William) Maier.

Visitation Friday, July 1, 2022, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, and Saturday, July 2, 2022, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road from 9:00 until 9:45 am. Funeral Mass 10:00 am. Entombment at All Saints Cemetery.
