

Elizabeth A. McHarg went to be with the Lord, January 27, 2016 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights." She was born September 4, 1922 in Independence, KS, to William Van Reed and Mabel Heckman.Elizabeth grew up and attended school in Independence, KS. During WWII she was part of a women"s cadet program, where she received training at Iowa State University and then worked in an airplane factory in St. Louis." After the war she earned her master"s degree at Kansas State University, and also met her husband Robert there." Elizabeth worked for ATT in Kansas City KS, prior to the birth of their son Christopher." The family moved around during Robert"s Chemical Engineering career, including three years in London, England. They settled in Arlington Heights, IL where she lived up to the present time." Her interests included being an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)."Elizabeth is survived by her son Christopher McHarg.She is preceded in death by her husband Robert McHarg, her brothers Edward (late Earline) Heckman, Jim (late Verna) Heckman, her sister Dorothy (late Joe) Correll "and by her parents.Visitation Friday, February 5, 2016 from 4 PM until 8 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. A celebration of her life will be held, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights." In state at church from 2 PM until time of service at 3 PM."
