Eugene Leo Griffin

Eugene Leo Griffin, of Inverness, formerly of Arlington Heights, was born on January 23, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Patrick and Helen (nee Laffey) Griffin. He passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois.Eugene attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary and University of Saint Mary of the Lake. He received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University. He practiced law in Chicago for 50 years. He was a former partner with the law firm of Arvey, Hodes, Costello and Burman and founded Eugene L. Griffin Assoc. Ltd. in 1992. Eugene was a member of the Chicago Bar Association and a founding member and the first General Counsel of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.Eugene was stationed in Germany while serving in the Army. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was a member of the Celtic Legal Society of Chicago. He enjoyed music, literature and classic movies.Eugene is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elena (nee Bruno); his sons Terrence J. (Deanna), Eugene P. (Natalie), Stephen F. (Sharon), Lawrence J. (Elizabeth) and Christopher P. (Vanessa) Griffin; his grandchildren Kevin, Courtney, Molly, Meghan, Timothy, Matthew, Caitlin, Catherine, Maeve and Owen Griffin; his sister Norine (Howard) Rozell; and his brothers-in-law Robert Houlihan, Albert Bruno, Dr. Thomas (Sharon) Bruno, Robert (Karen) Bruno and Anthony (Mary) Bruno; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Houlihan and his brother Gerald Griffin.Visitation from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois and Monday, July 14, 2014 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N.
