Evelyn M. McDonald

Evelyn M. McDonald, 86, of Arlington Heights was born January 19, 1930, in Freedom, MO. She died on Friday, July 22, 2016 in Arlington Heights. Evelyn was the beloved wife of Donald D. McDonald, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2012. She also was preceded in death by her parents Albert & Clara Kixmiller; brothers Raymond Griechen and Marvin Kixmiller; and sister Velma Kixmiller. Evelyn was a devoted mother of Donna Preves and Linda (John) Barry; cherished grandmother of Gregory (Amy) Preves, Robert (Jill) Preves, and Meghan Barry; great-grandmother of Collin, Hailey, Aidan, Grant and Rachel Preves. She received an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities Degree from Oakland City University in Oakland City, IN; she was recognized with the Good Samaritan Award from Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois in 1986; and received the Giving Servant of the Year in 1997. Evelyn was president of the Luther Village Spiritual Enrichment Fund for 23 years. She was active in many charitable organizations and Lutheran Churches. Evelyn was devoted to her family, God, and country. Visitation will be Friday, July 29, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. John the Beloved Chapel at the Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Entombment is private.
