

Devoted husband to Marlene (nee Marrazzo); loving father to Christi (Carlos) Nunez; proud grandfather to Matthew, Jessica, and Rebecca, and he cherished every moment with them, often saying they were the greatest joy of his life. Gary is also survived by his siblings: Janice (the late David) Feddor, Phyllis (Don) Schieler, and Neil (Gail) Kerber, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Virgina (nee Preglow) Kerber, sister Lois (Bill) Neubauer, and brother Richard (Peggy) Kerber.
Gary served in the United States Marines for four years. After his time in the military, he went on to become a dedicated lineman at Centel Telephone Company, where he worked for many years.
An avid outdoorsman, Gary loved camping, fishing, and golfing. He loved his dog Shandy who was his best friend and sidekick. He was a die-hard fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears, always ready to cheer on his teams. Above all, Gary’s greatest passion was his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, his deep love for his family and grandchildren, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Visitation for Gary will be held on Thursday, January 16 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL at 4:00 PM with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM. Interment private.
