He died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Alexian Brothers Hospice in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.During his 4 years in the Air Force, Mr. Swanson was stationed in Nashville, TN as a jet engine mechanic." He loved maintaining the C-130"s that were returned to Vietnam." George worked as a Supervisor in Public Works for the Village of Hoffman Estates. He was an avid car enthusiast. He enjoyed weightlifting and body building at the gym, and loved to spend time with his family, his grandkids, and was loved by all.George is survived by his spouse of 47 years Sharon (nee Kennedy); daughter, Christine (Chuck) Hurley; grandchildren, J.J. Hurley, Connor Hurley, Emilie Hurley, Fisher Hurley and Grace Hurley; siblings, Jay Shanahan and Steven (Lynette) Swanson; brother-in-law, Tom (Lynn Ridge) Kennedy; Nieces and nephew, Elizabeth (Jesse) Swanson, Peter Swanson, Patricia Shanahan, Bridget (Alex Kreit) Kennedy, Lori Kennedy, Alyson (Matthew Fite) Kennedy and Lynne (Chris) Scharf.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter Swanson; and brother-in-law, Thomas Shanahan.Visitation Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N.
