Grace was the beloved wife to the late Phillip; loving mother to Roy, Lisa (Keith), Vince (Alice), and Paul (Traci); dear grandmother to Zachary Khan, Anthony Scardina, Bryan Khan, Andrew Scardina, Joseph Scardina, Louis Scardina, Samia (Jordan) Scardina, Grace Scardina, and Nicholas Scardina; fond sister to Leonard (Fredia) Campo, and the late Carl Campo; sister-in-law to Diane Campo, and the late Marylou Campo; and dear godmother to Anna Freeman, she will be missed dearly.
As a wife, mother, grandparent and friend, Grace always put others first and her happiness came from seeing others happy, joyful and succeed in their lives.
Grace sincerely poured her heart & soul into creating “A home” for her family, and whether that was taking the family to Wonder Lake, or living at Potomac Avenue in Chicago, Beau Drive in Des Plaines, 906 White Oak in Arlington Heights, and most recently, 3125 Town Square in Rolling Meadows, Grace made it a point to put her family first and take care of everyone around her.
Holidays took on what we all wish for….traditions, and Grace left her mark on her children, passing down and creating those very same traditions with their families. From making requested birthday dinners, coloring Easter eggs, carving pumpkins and cooking all day for Thanksgiving & Christmas, Grace always made sure the holiday traditions were a priority.
As a devoted wife to Phillip Scardina of 51 years, Grace was a mother of four, and a grandmother (Nani) of nine. Grace’s passion for life in her later years was unequivocally her love for her grandchildren. Whether in Chicago, Missouri, Denver, North Carolina…Grace made sure to attend all of life’s events of the grandkids and wanted to make sure they all knew how much they were loved.
Grace also had a passion for sports! Whether supporting her children and grandchildren on the fields of baseball, softball, soccer, skateboarding, cheerleading and football, or the gymnasium for gymnastics, Grace stood tall & proud to witness the successes of her children and grandkids.
Truly a Chicagoan, you knew when there was a professional sporting event as Grace cheered proudly for the Bears, Blackhawks, Wolves and Cubs (and occasionally the White Sox…lol)...good times or bad, Grace lived for sports and for the love of the game!
Grace will be missed by all, and her spirit will always live on forever as her love was so profound.'
