Helen Victoria Platt

Helen Victoria Platt was born on November 27, 1921 in Chicago to Frank and Mary (nee Czarnik) Gorlewski. She died Monday, December 25, 2017 in Wheeling.

She, along with her husband Tom, owned and operated Tom and Helen's Grocery in Chicago. Helen was a member of Red Cardinal Camping and Social Club and Theodore Roosevelt Post #4 and Chapter #4. She loved to learn about what all her children and grandchildren were doing in their lives. Helen loved to spend time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren and was loved by all.

Helen is survived by her children, Ray (Judy) Platt, Christine (Larry) Hepinstall, Margaret (Bob) Swatek, Tom (Carolyn) Platt, Jim (Cindy) Platt, Daniel (Leslie) Platt and Joe (Catherine) Platt; grandchildren, Sarah (Jim) Brennan, Michael (Melissa) Platt, Laura (Kevin) Schmidt, Amanda Platt, Karen (Jeff) Keicher, Eric (Becky) Hepinstall, Brian Swatek, Jennifer Swatek, Kevin Swatek, Tim Swatek, David Platt, Andrew Platt, Joseph Platt, Amie (Kevin) Kaufman, Megan Platt, Tom Platt, Lindsey Platt, Brent Platt, Michelle Platt, Erin Platt and Carol Platt; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Brennan, Addison Brennan, Emma Keicher, Oliver Keicher, Ethan Keicher, Zachary Hepinstall, Koben Hepinstall, Rachael Veselsky, Max Veselsky, Madison Veselsky, Charlotte Veselsky, Asha Walls and Hayden Kaufman; sister, Marlene (Dennis) McKenna; nieces and nephews, Bob Gorlewski, Carol (Tom) Metzke, Janice (Ron) Czerwonka, John (Amy) Gorlewski, Sean McKenna, Patrick (Melissa) McKenna and MaryBeth (Richie) Szorc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Stella Gorlewska and Joseph (Genevieve) Gorlewski; and nephew, Joseph Gorlewski.

Visitation Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Mass at Addolorata Villa, Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel, 555 McHenry Road, Wheeling, IL 60090. Interment will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
