I have just learned of Belle’s passing. I knew Belle when I worked at the AHML. She was always so nice to me and her smile was contagious. I’ve thought of her many times over these years. My heart was broken when I heard she had passed away. My condolences to her husband and family.

There is a brick in the lovely courtyard of The Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota which reads "Cousin Belle, always present, always patient.". And Belle was present for years, in accompanying me to appointments and exams at the Mayo Clinic, to sitting in on education classes for transplant patients and their caregivers, to being in the room when I had my "new birthday," hand in hand with balloons! But, she was not only ever present, but ever patient with taught me the meaning of patience and calm in the presence of uncertainty. She shared her special Rosary with me, and we prayed together, and lit candles at St. John's Church,. She shared her generous spirit with the other transplant patients and caregivers at the Gift of Life House, and shared patients's tips on healing. And this past spring we celebrated life together with family and friends on a beautiful spring day...where we listened to Samantha sing a song from the Sound of music, and Sienna and Samantha give a fun and spirited blessing before we "broke bread,"
So Cousin Belle, with thankful heart, I wish you joy and peace among the choir of God"s angels.

I worked with Belle for many years at AHML. She always had a smile and a kind word. I'll remember her love of her family and the joy her children and grandchildren brought her.

Aunt Belle and Uncle Bill are kept forever in my childhood memories. When we'd visit Chicago, they (being the youngest aunt & uncle) would take us girls to "fancy" restaurants and treat us like grown-ups. I trusted Aunt Belle enough to try shellfish! Cooked, yes, but still. I will always think of her when I have Clams Casino. My love to Uncle Bill, Nicole and Billy and their families.

I see Sophia's note below, and I couldn't have said it better. Belle was full of a contagious life and light! She was like a friend, a cousin or a grandmother to everyone. She was full of strength, spunk, love, and warmth. She exuded an energy that touched all of those around her yet is hard to describe. If you knew her, you'd feel it! Belle's unique sparkle will be carried through many generations to come. My heart is heavy with this significant loss to our family. With love, Amy Gillio

Belle was a very special person in my life, and in my sister's lives. She was my father's cousin, and felt like an honorary grandma for me. Growing up, I have such fond memories of Belle's wonderful warmth. She was the kind of person that brought a warm light to every room and conversation, and had a wonderful sense of humor. My fondest memory of Belle is the traditional seven fishes Christmas Eve dinner that she worked so hard on every year. Belle's legacy will live on as I continue with this tradition in my life with my family in honor of her. Belle's love was contagious, and will be felt by her friends and family forever. Belle was my niece, an older sister to my children, and not only my niece, but a dear friend of mine. She made my late husband Rocco and myself a part of Nicole and Billy's lives. I will feel her love every day for the rest of my life.
